I recently learned how to create a sun star during a sunset. I was testing on my husband in Laguna and came up with this shot. It may not be a perfect silhouette/sunset shot, but I love that the sunstar is just where I wanted it (his neck) and that the seagull flew by at just the right moment.

Another thing I’m learning about photography is that it is not always about the mechanics of a photo that make it special. Again, I don’t know if this is the prefect silhouette shot, with the perfect composition, but I love it because it is my husband and my youngest son, holding hands at one of my favorite locations on the planet (the beach). I love their reflections in the shallow tidepool and the faint hint of the sunset glow on their left sides.

Happy Sunday!
